A pond can work well in Dubai, but depth and shade decide whether it survives summer. A shallow feature in full sun overheats, loses water quickly and becomes hostile to both fish and plants. Designing in enough depth and partial shade is what keeps the water temperature in a survivable range through July and August.
Filtration is the other thing that has to be sized correctly at the build rather than corrected later. Mechanical and biological filtration matched to the water volume and the fish load is what keeps water clear; under-filtering is the usual reason a pond turns green within weeks. Koi in particular need more depth, stronger filtration and more shade than an ornamental pond, so tell us at design stage because retrofitting for koi generally means rebuilding.
Mosquitoes are a common worry and a manageable one. Moving, circulating water that is properly stocked does not breed them; stagnant unstocked water does. A correctly sized pump and a sensible stocking level deal with the problem without chemicals.
A pond is a living system, so it needs more attention than a fountain: filter cleaning, top-up and seasonal checks. We can cover that on a maintenance schedule. Ponds are often built with a waterfall feeding them, and form part of the wider pool and water features service.
