Pebbles & Gravel
Gravel and pebbles do three jobs in a garden: they drain, they suppress weeds by blocking the light those weeds need, and they finish a bed so soil is never the top layer anyone sees. Everything on this page is sold in 20kg bags from AED 16 to AED 65, and the choice comes down to two things: grade size, which decides the job, and colour, which does not.
Grade size decides the job
Small grades pack down. Large grades stay loose. That single difference drives every sensible choice here.
0.5cm to 2cm compacts underfoot and drains well, which makes it right for pathways, driveways edges and the surface under planters. It stays where you put it.
2cm to 5cm is the general purpose bed covering, heavy enough not to scatter and still loose enough to rake back when planting.
5cm to 8cm stays loose and is decorative rather than functional. Use it for accent beds, around a feature tree or in a dry garden where texture matters more than how it walks.
Gravel by colour and price
Grey Gravel is the lowest priced at AED 16 to AED 20 across 0.5cm, 1cm to 2cm and 2cm to 4cm. White Gravel runs AED 18 to AED 24 across four grades from 0.5cm to 5cm, and is the brightest option, though it shows dust sooner than darker colours in a climate that delivers plenty of it. Beige Gravel at AED 20 to AED 26 across 0.5cm, 1cm to 2cm and 2cm to 4cm is the closest to natural desert tone and the most ordered colour on this page.
Pebbles by colour and price
White Pebbles at AED 35 for a 20kg bag is the best selling non plant product on the site, available in four grades from 1cm to 8cm at the same price regardless of size. Black Pebbles at AED 50 come in the same four grades and give the strongest contrast against green planting.
The river pebble range is AED 55 a bag at 5cm: Red River Pebbles, Green Slate River Pebbles and Sunburst Mixed River Pebbles, which blends tones rather than using one colour. Yellow Pebbles are AED 60 and Tiger Striped Pebbles AED 65, both at 5cm, and both are feature materials rather than area coverage.
Colour is aesthetic, not functional
Beige, white, black and river pebbles at the same grade drain identically and suppress weeds identically. Choose on how it sits against your paving and planting, not on performance. The one practical difference is heat: pale gravel reflects light and stays cooler underfoot than dark stone in direct summer sun, which matters on a surface people walk on barefoot and not at all in a planted bed.
Mulch and soil
European Pine Bark at AED 45 is the organic alternative to stone. It does the same weed suppression and holds soil moisture better, but it breaks down over time and needs topping up, where gravel does not. Shalimar Organic Potting Soil at AED 25 for 50 litres and Red Sand at AED 10 a bag cover what goes underneath rather than on top.
Using gravel over potted soil
A layer of decorative pebbles across the soil surface of a large pot slows evaporation and stops the top layer crusting in summer heat. It also stops soil splashing up the sides of the pot when watered. Keep it to a single layer so water still reaches the soil freely. Pots themselves are on pots and planters.
Supply for landscaping projects
Bagged quantities suit a bed, a path or a courtyard. Larger landscaping scopes where gravel is laid alongside paving, borders and planting are handled through our hardscape service, which covers the groundwork and edging that stop loose stone migrating into the rest of the garden.
FAQ
How much does gravel cost in Dubai?
From AED 16 for a 20kg bag of grey gravel up to AED 26 for the largest beige grade. Decorative pebbles run higher, AED 35 to AED 65 a bag depending on colour.
What size gravel should I use for a pathway?
0.5cm to 2cm. Smaller grades compact underfoot and stay in place, where larger pebbles stay loose and scatter when walked on.
Does gravel stop weeds?
It suppresses them by blocking the light weed seeds need to germinate. A deeper layer works better than a thin one, and laying it over a membrane rather than bare soil makes the difference between suppression and a temporary delay.
What is the difference between gravel and pebbles?
Grade and finish. Gravel here means the smaller angular grades from 0.5cm to 5cm sold for coverage, while pebbles are the larger rounded stones from 1cm to 8cm sold as a decorative surface.
Which gravel colour is most popular?
Beige. It sits closest to natural desert tone and works against most paving used in UAE gardens. White is the brightest option but shows dust faster.
Can I use pebbles on top of potted plants?
Yes, and it helps. A single layer over the soil slows evaporation and stops soil splashing when you water. Keep it to one layer so water still passes through freely.
How are pebbles and gravel sold?
In 20kg bags, with the grade chosen at the point of order. Potting soil is sold by volume at 50 litres and pine bark mulch by the bag.
Do you supply gravel for landscaping projects?
Yes. Bagged quantities cover a bed or a courtyard, and larger project supply is quoted alongside the groundwork through our hardscape service.
