Washingtonia Plant is a young fan palm that matures into a tall single trunked tree, the kind used along roads and villa boundaries across the Emirates. Supplied at 100cm for AED 75, this is a landscaping size meant to grow into position.
Few palms handle Gulf heat and sandy, alkaline ground with less complaint, and hard tap water does not mark the leaves. The skirt is what needs attention: spent fronds dry and hang against the trunk instead of dropping, so an unmaintained plant builds a thick brown collar that has to be cut away.
How to care for Washingtonia Plant in the UAE
Plant in full sun, in ground that drains. Young plants want steady water for the first season, then far less. The mistake made most often is spacing: bought small and planted a metre from a wall or path, the crown spreads across both within a few years.

Only for a few years. The root system wants depth, and a container bound plant stalls, each new frond emerging smaller than the last.

Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
