Description
The Neem Tree (Azadirachta indica) is a fast growing evergreen shade tree that holds its canopy through UAE summer with very little irrigation once established. It is one of the most heat tolerant shade trees available here, which is why it appears so often in Gulf municipal and roadside planting.
Stocked at 1 metre, 2 metres, 3.5 metres and 4.5 metres, from AED 35 to AED 750, supplied in a nursery pot. At 3.5 metres and above the tree is delivered and planted by our team.
Neem handles full sun, sandy soil and the salinity of typical UAE tap water better than most shade trees. Its deep root system means that after the first season it needs far less water than its canopy size suggests, and it keeps its leaves through months when other shade trees thin out.
How to care for a Neem Tree in the UAE
Plant in full sun with free draining soil. Water deeply two or three times a week through the first season while the roots establish, then reduce sharply. The most common mistake is continuing heavy irrigation after establishment, which produces weak surface roots.
Where a Neem Tree works best

Neem is among the faster growing shade trees for this climate, which is why it is usually bought at 2 metres or above rather than as a sapling when shade is needed soon.
How much water does a Neem Tree need?
A lot in its first season while it establishes, then very little. Mature neem is one of the most drought tolerant shade trees stocked here.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
