Description
Dracaena Janet Craig is a plain green Dracaena, separated from variegated types by wide, unmarked leaves that stay deep green in far less light.
It comes in five heights: 80cm, 100cm, 120cm, 150cm and 170cm, from AED 180 to AED 870, each in a nursery or ceramic pot.
With no variegation to maintain, this is the Dracaena that copes best with the low interior light of Dubai towers, where tinted glass removes much of what would otherwise reach a room. Expect slow growth rather than decline, and few new leaves in summer.
How to care for Dracaena Janet Craig in the UAE
Moderate to low light is fine, and bright indirect light gives faster growth. Let the top third of the pot dry before watering, often once a fortnight in a cooled office. The failure we see most is a summer schedule carried into winter, leaving roots wet.

Same species, different habit. Janet Craig has long arching leaves spaced along the cane. Compacta holds short leaves in rosettes and grows slowly.
Can Janet Craig survive in a room with no window?
It holds for months under office ceiling lighting, but pushes no new leaves. Rotate it somewhere brighter periodically.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
