Description
Day King is an evergreen flowering shrub grown for the clusters of small cream flowers it opens through daylight hours rather than after dark.
It is supplied at 80cm in either a nursery pot or a ceramic pot, with prices running from AED 45 to AED 85 depending on the pot selected.
In Dubai gardens it keeps flowering through the hot months provided the root zone never dries out completely. Sandy beds drain faster than it likes, so soil worked with compost holds moisture between irrigation cycles. Flowering slows sharply once the bed has gone bone dry twice in a week.
How to care for Day King in the UAE
Give it full sun or light afternoon shade, and water deeply three times weekly in summer, tapering off in winter. The usual failure is shallow daily sprinkling, which wets only the top few centimetres, leaves deeper roots dry and yellows the lower leaves.

Does Day King flower all year round?
It flowers in flushes across the warmer months and slows in midwinter. A light trim after each flush brings the next one on faster.

Cestrum foliage and berries are toxic if chewed, so keep it away from dogs that graze on garden planting.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
