Description
Bougainvillea (Pink Pixie) is a dwarf bougainvillea that stays compact and bushy instead of climbing.
It is stocked at 60cm in a nursery pot for AED 35.
Because this one is usually grown in a container, root temperature matters more than it does for bougainvillea planted in open ground. A dark pot standing on paving in July gets hot enough to stall the roots, so the plant sulks and drops bracts even while it is being watered correctly.
How to care for Bougainvillea (Pink Pixie) in the UAE
Full sun and a free draining mix. Water when the top of the compost dries, more often than a ground planted shrub because the root volume is small. The usual failure here is a pot without a drainage hole, where salt builds up and the lower leaves yellow.

No. It is a shrubby dwarf form that holds its own shape at around 60cm, which is why it suits containers and low edging rather than walls.
How often should Pink Pixie be repotted?
Move it up one pot size when roots show at the drainage hole. It bracts better slightly pot bound, so avoid jumping straight to a large container.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
