Description
Bougainvillea Ball Shape is a bougainvillea pruned into a dense, rounded dome of leaves and bracts, so it reads as a neat flowering ball rather than a sprawling climber.
It is priced at AED 225. Colours are white, pink, red, orange and purple, and stock usually comes as a mix, so choose Mixed for an assorted selection or pick a single colour.
The round shape is held by regular trimming, and that is the part Dubai summers test. A ball left unclipped through the hot months throws long whippy shoots out of the top within weeks, and cutting them back hard in July exposes the inner stems to direct sun and scorches them. Little and often keeps the dome tight without opening it up.
How to care for Bougainvillea Ball Shape in the UAE
Full sun, at least six hours, and a dry spell between waterings. Water deeply, then wait for the top of the soil to dry before the next drink; a constantly wet pot gives green leaves and few bracts. Tip back stray shoots after each flush of colour to keep the outline round, and avoid heavy pruning from June to August.

Can I choose a specific colour?
Yes. Pick white, pink, red, orange or purple, or choose Mixed for an assorted set. Bract colour can soften slightly with age and strong sun.
Will it stay round on its own?
No. The ball shape needs light trimming after each flush of flowers. Left alone it grows back into an open shrub over a season.
Why is my bougainvillea green with no colour?
Usually too much water or nitrogen feed, or not enough sun. Let the soil dry between waterings, stop high nitrogen fertiliser and move it into full sun.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
