Description
Outdoor Croton is a hardy foliage shrub whose leathery leaves carry yellow, orange and red veining on a green base, with colour that intensifies rather than fades in strong light.
Three heights are stocked, 30cm, 50cm and 100cm, in a nursery pot or a ceramic pot, from AED 45 up to AED 250.
Colour here is a direct function of sun. A croton in deep shade reverts to plain green within a couple of months, while the same plant given four or more hours of direct light holds the full pattern. Midday summer sun on a west wall can still bleach the newest leaves, so morning exposure gives the best result.
How to care for Outdoor Croton in the UAE
Keep the soil evenly moist without sitting wet, and feed through the growing season to support new coloured growth. The typical complaint is sudden leaf drop, almost always caused by moving the plant or by letting it dry out hard once. Crotons register a single dry spell weeks later, when the lower leaves fall together.

Is croton sap an irritant?
The milky sap can irritate skin, so wear gloves when pruning and wash hands afterwards.
Can it also be kept indoors?
Only at a very bright window. Away from light the colouring drops out quickly.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
