Description
Ipomoea biloba, the beach morning glory, is a fast spreading groundcover that roots as it runs and produces funnel shaped flowers, used to cover open ground rather than as a feature plant.
Supplied at 100cm for AED 40.
It is a coastal species and tolerates sandy soil, salt spray and direct Gulf sun better than most groundcover, which makes it useful on exposed sites and near the coast where other spreading plants scorch or fail.
How to care for Ipomoea biloba in the UAE
Full sun and free draining soil. Water regularly while it establishes, then reduce. It spreads quickly, so cut it back at the edges to keep it out of beds you do not want it in.

Quickly, rooting as it runs, which is why it is used for ground cover rather than planted as a specimen.
Does it tolerate coastal conditions?
Yes. Salt spray and sandy soil suit it better than they suit most spreading plants.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
