Description
Ficus Bonsai in the S Shape is a ficus trained over years into a single curving trunk, sold as a sculpted plant where the stem is the point of it.
Three sizes are listed, 60cm, 80 to 90cm and 90 to 110cm, with a nursery or ceramic pot option. The 80 to 90cm size costs AED 350 in a nursery pot and AED 480 in a ceramic pot, the 90 to 110cm size costs AED 420 and AED 620, and the 60cm size runs from AED 180 to AED 275 when in stock.
A trained trunk only keeps its line if growth is checked. In UAE interiors the temperature never really drops, so the plant never goes dormant and keeps pushing shoots from the trunk in winter as well as summer. Left alone a year, the S disappears.
How to care for Ficus Bonsai in the UAE
Bright indirect light, water when the top two centimetres dry, and rub off any shoot on the bare trunk as you see it. The failure specific to this plant is not death but loss of form, and hard cutting rarely restores the outline.
Where Ficus Bonsai works best
Console tables, reception counters, wide windowsills and study shelves suit it, and it reads best with clear space behind it. Other shapes sit in our sculptural indoor plants.

How often does the S shape need trimming?
Roughly every six to eight weeks in warm months. Pinching new shoots back to two leaves keeps the head tight without leaving visible stubs.
Is the curve wired or grown that way?
Grown that way. The trunk is shaped with wire or a frame while young, then the wood hardens and holds the curve.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
