Description
Ficus Benjamina Holland is a Dutch nursery grown weeping fig, supplied with a dense trained canopy on a clear stem rather than the looser local form.
Two sizes are stocked, 120cm and 150cm, from AED 225 to AED 365 depending on height and pot, nursery or ceramic.
Benjamina responds to any change of position by dropping leaves, and the move from a humid Dutch greenhouse to a cooled Dubai apartment changes light, air moisture and temperature at once. Leaf fall in the first two or three weeks is adjustment, not failure.
How to care for Ficus Benjamina Holland in the UAE
Bright light, including a little direct morning sun, and water once the top three centimetres dry. Then leave it alone. The most common failure is moving it repeatedly to find the spot it likes: each move restarts the leaf drop.
Where Ficus Benjamina Holland works best

Can this fig stay outside all year in Dubai?
Not in full sun. A Holland grown plant has soft greenhouse foliage and burns in a UAE summer. Deep shade with reliable water works.
How often should the canopy be trimmed?
Twice a year is enough, in spring and early autumn. Cutting back the longest shoots keeps the trained ball shape and encourages branching.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
