Description
English Ivy, also sold as Hedera Helix, is a trailing evergreen climber whose small lobed leaves spread and cling from a compact pot.
It is supplied at 40cm for AED 65 in a nursery pot. You can add a decorative pot of your choice separately.
Ivy is a temperate plant and the UAE summer is its hard season. Indoors under cooling it is comfortable, but on an uncovered balcony once daytime temperatures pass the mid thirties the leaf margins crisp and growth stops until October. Treat outdoor use here as a winter arrangement.
How to care for English Ivy in the UAE
Bright indirect light, cooler rather than warmer, and compost kept slightly moist at all times. The most common way it fails here is drying out completely once. Ivy gives no wilting warning, it simply goes brittle, and whole trailing stems die back.

Is English Ivy safe for pets?
No. The leaves are toxic to cats and dogs if eaten, and the trails hang at the height a cat will bat at.
How long do the trails get indoors?
Left uncut they lengthen steadily over a few years. Most owners pinch the tips instead, keeping the plant full at the crown.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
