Description
Dracaena Massangeana, sold widely as the corn plant, is a single cane Dracaena whose broad arching leaves carry a pale yellow band down the centre.
Stocked at 80cm, 100cm, 120cm and 140cm, from AED 180 to AED 480 across the height and pot combinations, nursery or ceramic.
This plant grows from a cut length of woody cane, and the exposed top of that cut is its weak point. In homes where pots are watered from above and the room stays cool and slow to dry, water settles there and the tissue softens downward.
How to care for Dracaena Massangeana in the UAE
Moderate to bright indirect light, water into the compost around the pot edge rather than over the crown, and let the top third dry between waterings. The common failure is a soft, dark cane at soil level, which will not firm up again.

Does the corn plant flower indoors?
Occasionally, on older plants. It sends up a branched spike of small cream flowers, scented at night, that drips sticky sap. Most owners cut it off.
Why is the yellow centre stripe fading?
Too little light. The stripe holds best in bright indirect conditions and washes out toward plain green in a dark room over a season.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
