Description
Dracaena Compacta is a slow growing indoor Dracaena that carries short, dark green leaves in tight rosettes along a bare cane.
It is stocked at 80cm and 100cm, from AED 240 to AED 410 depending on height and pot, in a nursery or ceramic pot. A 150cm size is listed at AED 390 to AED 510 when in stock.
The packed rosettes trap fine airborne dust, and in Dubai that dust arrives through open doors and off nearby construction. A film builds on the upper leaves within weeks, dulling the colour and cutting the light reaching the plant. Wipe them monthly with a damp cloth.
How to care for Dracaena Compacta in the UAE
Bright indirect light suits it, though it holds colour in moderate light. Water when the top four centimetres are dry, roughly every ten days in a cooled room. The usual failure is overwatering: wet soil turns the cane base soft.
Where Dracaena Compacta works best
It suits corners away from windows, hallway consoles and reception desks where a narrow footprint matters. Keep it clear of a cooling vent. For dim positions, see our plants for low light rooms.

Does Dracaena Compacta lose its lower leaves?
Yes. Base rosettes yellow and drop as the cane extends. If the loss is fast and the leaves limp, check for wet soil.
Can I cut the cane to make it branch?
You can. A clean cut usually pushes two or three new rosettes below it. Do this in spring and keep the plant bright.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
