Description
Cycas Palm / Sago Palm is a slow growing cycad, an ancient plant group that predates true palms despite the common name.
Sizes are 50cm, 100cm thin trunk and 100cm thick trunk, from AED 95 to AED 370.
Sago pushes out one flush of new fronds a year, and in the UAE that flush usually arrives in spring. Those fronds stay soft for a few weeks and scorch easily against a hot wall, so afternoon shade during that window protects an entire year of growth.
How to care for Cycas Palm / Sago Palm in the UAE
Bright light with some direct sun, and water only once the top of the soil has dried. Sharp drainage is essential. The common failure is overwatering a plant in a heavy pot, which rots the trunk base quietly while the crown still looks healthy.

What separates the thin and thick trunk plants at 100cm?
Trunk thickness reflects age. A thick trunk plant is older, carries a fuller crown and costs more, although both stand at the same 100cm height.
Why has my Sago Palm not grown all year?
That is normal. Cycads flush once a season and rest in between. No new fronds is not a problem unless existing fronds yellow from the base.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
