Description
Chamaerops Palm is a compact clumping fan palm from Mediterranean scrub, the smallest of the fan palms in common landscape use.
It is stocked at 100cm for AED 350.
Coming from dry stony hillsides, Chamaerops handles heat and poor soil but grows slowly and resents being kept wet. In a Dubai garden it does better in a raised bed or gravel than at a lawn edge, where daily turf watering keeps the crown damp for months on end.
How to care for Chamaerops Palm in the UAE
Full sun to part sun, with deep watering in summer and very little in winter. Cut old fronds off at the base. The most common failure is planting it inside a lawn irrigation zone, which delivers frequent shallow water and leads to crown rot within a season or two.
Where Chamaerops Palm works best
Use it beside a pool deck, in a gravel courtyard, or in a large pot flanking steps, where the stiff fans hold shape and drop little litter. Its leaf spines make it a poor path edge choice. See our palm tree collection.

Does the Chamaerops Palm have a single trunk?
No. It suckers from the base and forms a clump. Suckers can be removed to force one trunk, or left for a fuller multi stemmed shape.
How big will a Chamaerops Palm get?
It stays small compared with date or coconut palms and adds height slowly, so the 100cm plant supplied here will hold its scale for years.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
