Description
Casuarina Plant / Australian Pine Tree is a fast growing evergreen with drooping needle like branchlets, used across the Gulf as a windbreak.
Three heights are stocked, 160cm to 200cm, 300cm to 400cm and 400cm to 500cm, from AED 350 to AED 600.
Casuarina fixes nitrogen at the root and copes with poor saline sand, which is why it lines farm boundaries across the Emirates. The fine branchlets shed constantly and build a dense mat under the tree that suppresses whatever you try to grow beneath it.
How to care for Casuarina Plant / Australian Pine Tree in the UAE
Full sun and free draining ground. Water regularly in the first year, after which it asks for little. Prune to shape while young. The common failure here is planting it beside a pool or lawn, where needle drop clogs filters and smothers grass.

It is among the quicker screening trees in Gulf conditions, which is why it is chosen for windbreaks. Growth slows once water is reduced after establishment.
Can Casuarina be trimmed into a formal hedge?
Yes. It takes clipping while young and holds as a tall narrow screen. Old bare wood reshoots poorly, so trim little and often.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
