Description
Anthurium Red is a compact flowering houseplant recognised by its waxy scarlet spathes, which are modified leaves rather than petals and stay coloured for weeks.
It is supplied at 50cm in height for AED 75, in a plain nursery pot. That 50cm figure includes the pot. You can add a decorative pot of your choice separately.
Anthurium comes from humid forest floors, and Dubai indoor air is the opposite. In a room held at 22C with the cooling running, new spathes open smaller than the ones the plant arrived with, and older leaves develop dry brown margins before any other symptom shows.
How to care for Anthurium Red in the UAE
Bright indirect light keeps the flowering going; direct sun bleaches the spathes to pink. Water when the top layer of bark or soil dries and let the excess drain away. The most common failure here is standing water in a decorative outer pot, which rots the thick aerial roots.

How long does each red bloom last?
Typically six to eight weeks. Once a spathe greens and curls at the edge, cut its stem at the base to push the plant into producing the next one.
Is Anthurium safe around children?
No. The sap contains calcium oxalate crystals that irritate the mouth if chewed, so keep it on a raised surface out of reach.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
