Description
Red River Pebbles are rounded stones carrying an iron rich rust tone, tumbled smooth rather than sharp edged. The grade stocked is around 5cm, supplied in 20 kg bags at AED 55.
That red comes from iron within the stone itself and not from a coating, so nothing peels or flakes in Gulf sun. What does happen over a few seasons is a softening of the tone towards terracotta, and a hose down restores most of it. Fine dust shows more readily on red stone than on dark stone.
How to use Red River Pebbles
Put a membrane down first on open soil, then lay the stone thick enough that nothing shows through once it settles. Keep pebbles clear of drip emitters, because a stone layer hides a blocked line for months. Where the bed meets lawn, use a hard edge.
Where Red River Pebbles work best
The warm tone works against green foliage, grey block paving and dark planters, and it reads strongly at a villa entrance. It competes with red brick, so avoid pairing the two. See our other garden pebbles in other colours.
FAQ
Are these pebbles dyed?
No. The colour is natural mineral content in the stone. Dyed gravel loses colour in strong sun, which is the usual reason a red bed turns patchy.
Can the stone be laid over an irrigation line?
It can, and it helps by shading the pipe and slowing evaporation. Mark where emitters sit before covering them so faults can be traced later.
Plants Care
Watering:
Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.
Light:
Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.
Temperature:
Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.
Fertilizer:
Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.
