From our Warsan 3 nursery

Poinsettia Red is the classic winter flowering plant, recognised by its star-shaped scarlet bracts. The red "petals" are coloured leaves; the true flowers are the small yellow buds at the centre of each star.

It is supplied at 40cm in height for AED 70, in a plain nursery pot. That 40cm figure includes the pot. You can add a decorative pot of your choice separately.

Poinsettia comes from Mexico and is sold in Dubai through the cooler months and the festive season. It dislikes sudden temperature changes, so a cold blast from an AC vent or a hot car ride home is the usual reason it drops leaves in its first week.

How to care for Poinsettia Red in the UAE

Give it bright indirect light and a steady room temperature, ideally between 18C and 24C. Water when the top 2 to 3cm of soil feels dry, then pour away any water left in the saucer or outer pot, because soggy roots are the most common way it fails. Keep it away from AC vents, doors and heaters.

Where Poinsettia Red works best

Side tables, dining tables, reception desks and entrance consoles through the festive season, and it makes an easy gift. See more ideas in our gift range and indoor plants.

FAQ

How long does Poinsettia stay red?

With bright light and steady watering, the bracts keep their colour for six to eight weeks, often well past New Year.

Is Poinsettia safe around pets and children?

It is mildly irritating rather than dangerous. The milky sap can upset the stomach or irritate skin, so keep it out of reach of pets and small children.

Watering:

Water your plant once a week or when the soil starts to feel slightly dry on the surface. Keep the soil consistently moist, but be careful not to overwater, as this can cause brown spots and leaf drop. If the leaves become curly or dry, it's a sign that the plant needs water. It's best to water your plant in the early morning or late evening when the temperatures are cooler. Always check the soil before watering.

Light:

Provide bright indoor light or indirect sunlight for about 6 to 8 hours a day.

Temperature:

Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Avoid exposing the plant to drafts, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations. Mist the plant occasionally, about twice a week, to help maintain optimal humidity levels.

Fertilizer:

Apply liquid fertiliser every 15 days when the plant is actively growing. For best results, use Folikraft ready-to-use Indoor Plant Food.

Frequently Asked Questions

We're here to help!

Get in touch with customer care

Can you really get a good plant online?

Absolutely! We ensure that every plant we send out meets two key criteria:

We carefully inspect each plant for signs of root rot, pests, disease, and unhealthy foliage or stems. If we find any issues, we don’t ship the plant. This meticulous care ensures that every plant is healthy and ready to thrive in its new home.
We ask ourselves if we’d proudly display the plant in our own homes and if it matches the online photos. If both answers are yes, we ship it. However, if you're not happy with your plant, we offer a hassle-free replacement within 14 days of delivery.

Will my plant look like the plants on your website?

Yes, we strive to match the appearance of the plants shown online. While natural variations in color, shape, and size are to be expected, we do our best to ensure your plant closely resembles its online image.

How will my plant arrive?

Your plant will arrive in its nursery pot to ensure safe transportation. We recommend leaving it in this pot for at least 6 to 12 months to acclimate to your home’s environment. For succulents, which acclimate faster, we may replant them before shipping.

How do I pick the best plant for me?

Consider the following:

Light: A bright, indirect light spot offers more plant options than a shady area.
Time: Some plants need minimal care, while others require more attention.
Style: Choose plants that match your aesthetic, whether tree-like with large leaves or vining varieties.
