Outdoor Plants

MyPlants carries 128 outdoor varieties, from AED 15 fountain grass to a sculpted ficus at AED 23,500, and every one of them is selected against the same test: it has to survive a Dubai summer where soil temperature matters more than air temperature. A plant that handles 45C air but sits in a shallow bed baking against a south-facing wall will fail anyway. That is the difference between a planting guide written for a temperate garden and one written for this climate.

Browse by what you are planting

Most gardens need three layers: something tall for structure and shade, something mid-height for screening or colour, and something low to cover soil. These pages split the range along those lines.

What outdoor plants cost in Dubai

Price tracks size and age far more than species. The same tree at two heights can differ tenfold, because a larger specimen represents years of nursery growing and a root ball that needs machinery to move.

Under AED 50. Green and Red Fountain Grass at AED 15, Ruellia and Eranthemum Red at AED 18, Leucophyllum at AED 20, Variegated Pandanus from AED 20, Curry Leaves at AED 22, Silver Damas and Jasmin Murraya at AED 25, Euphorbia at AED 29, Texas Sage at AED 30, Ghaf Tree from AED 30, Ixora Red from AED 35, Wild Jasmine and Oleander and Night Queen and Desert Rose from AED 45. This is the layer that fills a bed.

AED 50 to AED 500. Papaya from AED 50, Yucca Outdoor from AED 80, Coconut Palm and Cycas Palm from AED 95, Mango and Chickoo at AED 105, Plumeria from AED 120, Guava from AED 150, Citrus Lemon Omani from AED 160, Damas Ball at AED 199, Olive from AED 210, Bougainvillea Single Head and Calamansi and Tabebuia Rosea and Ficus Panda from AED 250, Ashoka from AED 300, Casuarina and Phoenix Palm and Chamaerops Palm from AED 350. Most villa gardens are built from this band.

Above AED 500. Spanish Lemon at AED 700, Date Palm from AED 950, Yellow Cassia at AED 1,300, Royal Poinciana at 3.5 to 4 metres for AED 1,450, Indian Almond at AED 1,499, Silver Trumpet Tree at 4 metres for AED 1,500, Weeping Fig at 3.5 metres for AED 1,999, Wax Palm from AED 2,200, Bismarck Palm from AED 2,800, Ficus Nitida at 3.5 metres for AED 3,450, Frangipani at 3 to 3.5 metres for AED 4,200, Washingtonia Palm to AED 6,600, and sculpted ficus bonsai at AED 7,250 and AED 23,500. These are specimen purchases that change a garden on the day they arrive.

Choosing by water need rather than by look

The most common planting mistake in Dubai is grouping plants by appearance and then irrigating the whole bed on one schedule. Ghaf Tree, Leucophyllum, Agave and Yucca need a fraction of the water that Hibiscus or a young fruit tree does, so mixing them in one zone guarantees that half the bed is drowning while the other half is thirsty. Group by water need first, then arrange for looks within each group.

Native and desert adapted species

Ghaf Tree is the UAE national tree and the most drought tolerant option here, from AED 30 as a young plant up to AED 395. Once established its roots reach deep enough that it needs almost no irrigation, which is why it appears in municipal planting across the Emirates. Leucophyllum, Agave, Yucca and Pandanus follow the same pattern on a smaller scale.

Trees for shade rather than decoration

Shade is a functional purchase in this climate. A canopy over a seating area or a west-facing wall drops the temperature underneath it and reduces the heat load on the building itself. Indian Almond, Ficus Nitida, Weeping Fig, Casuarina and Pongamia are the species bought for that job, and all of them are sold at heights above 3 metres where they cast usable shade immediately rather than in five years.

Delivery and planting

Anything above roughly 3 metres is delivered and planted by our team rather than left at the gate, because a root ball at that size cannot be moved by hand without damaging the roots and losing the tree. Smaller shrubs and potted plants ship as standard delivery across Dubai and the wider UAE, with the window shown at checkout.

Planting a whole garden rather than buying plants

Buying individual plants works when you know the layout you want. For an empty plot, a redesign, or a garden that needs irrigation and hardscape planned alongside the planting, our landscaping service covers design, build and planting as one scope.

FAQ

What outdoor plants survive Dubai summer?

Ghaf Tree, Leucophyllum, Agave, Yucca, Bougainvillea, Date Palm and Washingtonia Palm all handle full Dubai summer sun. Heat tolerance and water need are separate things: some heat tolerant species still need regular irrigation to look good.

How much do outdoor plants cost in Dubai?

From AED 15 for fountain grass to AED 6,600 for a 6 metre Spanish Washingtonia Palm, with most villa garden planting falling between AED 50 and AED 500 per plant. Specimen trees above 3 metres run into the thousands because of their age and size.

What is the cheapest way to fill a garden bed?

Groundcover and grasses. Fountain Grass at AED 15, Ruellia at AED 18 and Leucophyllum at AED 20 cover soil quickly and suppress weeds, which costs far less per square metre than filling the same area with shrubs.

Which outdoor tree gives shade fastest?

Buy the canopy rather than wait for it. Indian Almond, Ficus Nitida and Weeping Fig are stocked at 3.5 metres and above, so they cast usable shade from the day they are planted instead of after several seasons of growth.

Do you deliver outdoor plants outside Dubai?

Yes, delivery covers Dubai and the wider UAE including Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The available window for your order and location is shown at checkout.

How are large trees planted?

Trees above roughly 3 metres are delivered and planted on site by our team. A root ball that size needs equipment to place without root shock, which is the main cause of a mature tree failing in its first season.

Which outdoor plants need the least water?

Ghaf Tree needs the least once established, followed by Leucophyllum, Agave, Yucca and Pandanus. Group these together in their own irrigation zone rather than mixing them with thirstier plants on a shared schedule.

Can I buy outdoor plants online in the UAE?

Yes, the full outdoor range is priced and orderable online. Larger specimens are quoted with delivery and planting included, since those cannot ship as a standard parcel.
